This course focuses on the main provisions of the Solicitors’ Accounts Rules 1998 as they affect solicitors in private practice. Although assuming no prior knowledge, delegates attending this course will quickly build a sound understanding of the Solicitors’ Accounts Rules 1998 by looking at the most common compliance issues that occur in practice and the pitfalls to be avoided.

Identifying Fraud and Other Irregularities (3 CPD Hours) £195 + VAT
Delegates attending this course will benefit from Richard Lane’s unique insight of how fraud, dishonesty and other irregularities can manifest themselves in legal firms. Based on the experience gained over an 11 year period working for the Law Society’s Forensic Investigations department, this course is designed to assist delegates in recognising high risk areas and how to identify fraud, irregularities and potential dishonesty within their own firms.

This course examines the key provisions of the Terrorism Act 2000, Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 and the Money Laundering Regulations 2007 as they affect solicitors in private practice. Detailed consideration of The Law Society’s Anti-Money Laundering Practice Note ensures that delegates attending the course will be aware of what is considered to be best practice in this important area. A review of relevant disciplinary cases will help delegates to understand the regulatory approach adopted by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the main areas of work where problems are most likely to arise.

How to Survive an SAR Inspection: An Insider’s Guide (3 CPD Hours) £195 + VAT
This course explains the powers and procedures of the Solicitors Regulation Authority as regards inspection visits under the Solicitors’ Accounts Rules 1998.
