50 Percent Increase in Interventions

The most recently published statistics from the SRA show a 50% increase in the number of interventions.
The latest publicly available statistics published by the Solicitors Regulation Authority reveal a significant rise in the rate of interventions which have increased to 63 in the year to 30 June 2008 from 42 in the previous year, a rise of 50%.
In the same period, dishonesty interventions have increased by a staggering 180% and now account for 44% of all interventions. The second most common reason for powers of intervention being exercised by the SRA being breaches of the Solicitors' Accounts Rules 1998 which accounted for 43% of all interventions in the year to 30 June 2008.
